The history of Kenhardt, as well as information from the Photo Fossil Hunt is presented in the Old Mission Church which is located on the banks of the Hartbees River.

Since 1872 (even before the official foundation of the NG Sending Church) the Mission Church was first founded by Rev. CWH Schroder of Olyvendrift (Upington), and until 1891 also served by Rev. DC Villiers. In 1896 the NG Sendinggemeente was founded in Kenhardt and was by Rev. PJ Pienaar served.

In this young Church, after the Anglo Boer War 1902, only 13 members remained. She was lucky to later have a full-fledged congregation again. However, with Rev. Christo Alheit as a young pastor, this congregation had to move in 1972. Thanks to Rev. J L Cilliers, who has served this congregation since 1984 and now resides in the Strand, for all the research.

The Rapport Ryers Korps bought the church in the eighties and started a museum. The museum was never fully realized and from 2000 vandals badly damaged her.

God has made our dream, to buy and restore her, come true and she stands proudly there on top of the hump on the most beautiful erf and looks down on the Hartbees River.

Kenhardt, as a town itself, with its beautiful old houses, is the oldest town in the Lower Orange area and proudly hosts this Festival.

This Bushmanland Christ Festival is a Festival, unique in its kind. A festival that D.V. will continue to bear witness to God’s Creation truths that are engraved on ancient rocks here in the area. These ancient rocks and engravings testify that the Bible is true after all.

The start of the Festival will D.V. December 2006, with a ceremonial opening on December 10, 2006.

Real Boere Coffee, Braaivelis and Toast, other Traditional meals and delicacies are available at the Church which also now serves as an informal museum, coffee corner and restaurant.
