THE DOLERITE ROUTE

  The Dolerite Route is a one day route.  Time and km depend on the  kind of experience you would like. Outstretched  shay  landscape with changing scenes of doleritic    Exploring the site,  you'll experience  a unique adventure  on discovering impressions linked to the age old of the First People of Africa.  

Marvelous  engravings of Eland, Gemsbok, Elephant and ostrich are made near some these  impressions.    Utensils of their life style, like beads,  stone tools and grind stones are still  to be seen, as well as  The 'Bushmen Candle, quiver tree, like Wildekalbas, ghaap, ghobba and ghambro and doring komkommer and the gif appeltjie'

          On your way  back to Kenhardt, the Rooiberg dam could be part of your  experience. The building of this dam was started  in 1898. Thunderstorms  caused huge damaged while  building of the dam.  The building was stopped and thirty years later,  rebuilt.  In the evening you can enjoy the  traditional  meals of the Bushman land.
